Ultrasound 1: Shown here is the sonographically morphological unremarkable appendix veriformis longitudinally. It is in increased intra-abdominal fluid, which is typical for children with peritoneal shunts. There are no changes in the intestinal wall, no intramural lymph follicles, no hyperperfusion, and no thickening of the walls.

    Ultrasound: Appendix vermiformis (normal finding)
    (yousuf | 23.12.04)

what is the maximum diameter of normal appendix in a child

re: Ultrasound: Appendix vermiformis (normal finding)
      (Roland Talanow | 25.12.04)

Here are some physiological measurements of the appendix vermiformis in different modalities:

      In US:
Transverse Diameter < 6 mm (and compressible)
Appendiceal wall thickness usually < 2 mm

      In CT:
      Transverse Diameter < 8 mm
      Appendiceal wall thickness < 2 - 4 mm
